За последние 10 лет их численность в мире увеличилась более чем в два раза и к 2013 г. достигла 371 млн человек [<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="cit1">1</xref>]. В подавляющем большинстве случаев это СД 2-го типа. Опасными последствиями СД являются его микро- и макрососу-дистые осложнения: нефропатия, ретинопатия, поражение крупных сосудов сердца, головного мозга, нижних конечностей. Развитие поздних осложнений СД является основной причиной инвалидизации и смертности этих пациентов.</p></abstract><trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>The global number of patients with diabetes mellitus (DM) has been growing steadily. Over the past decade, the number has more than doubled and reached 371 million people by 2013. [<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="cit1">1</xref>] In most cases it is type 2 diabetes. The dangerous consequences of DM include micro- and macrovascular complications: nephropathy, retinopathy, lesions of the major blood vessels in the heart, brain and lower limbs.
