По последним данным, распространенность ЗПА уже достигла масштабов пандемии: в 2010 г. в мире насчитывалось более 200 млн человек, страдающих ЗПА, из них более 40 млн в Европе и более 14 млн в Северной и Южной Америке. Это заболевание обычно редко встречается у пациентов в возрасте моложе 40 лет, однако им страдает каждый 10-й человек в возрасте 70 лет или старше и каждый 6-й в возрасте 80 лет или старше [<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="cit1">1</xref>]. В одних только Соединенных Штатах Америки насчитывается более 8,5 млн человек, страдающих этим заболеванием. В этой стране среди людей старше 55 лет 10% имеют бессимптомную форму заболеваний периферических артерий и еще 5% страдают перемежающейся хромотой (ПХ) [<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="cit2">2</xref>]. В России от 15 до 30% популяции старше 65 лет имеют признаки облитерирующих заболеваний артерий нижних конечностей [3, 4]. В 2013 г. в 44 регионах России зарегистрировано 173 883 новых случая ЗПА, что, учитывая высокую распространенность бессимптомной формы заболевания (более 2/3 пациентов являются бессимптомными), позволяет пред-положить, что численность этой группы больных в России превышает более 1,5 млн человек.</p><sec><title> </title><p> </p></sec><sec><title> </title><p> </p></sec></abstract><trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>Treatment of chronic obliterating peripheral arterial disease (PAD) and the resulting chronic ischemia of the lower extremities is at the moment one of the most urgent problems in vascular surgery. According to recent reports, the prevalence of PAD has already reached the pandemic: in 2010, there were more than 200 million people suffering from PAD, including more than 40 million in Europe and over 14 million in North and South America. This disease is rarely found in patients younger than 40 years, but one person out of every 10 people aged 70 years or older and every sixth person at the age of 80 years or older suffers from it [<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="cit1">1</xref>]. In the United States, there are more than 8.5 million people suffering from this disease. In this country among people older than 55 years 10% have an asymptomatic form of peripheral arterial diseases and 5% suffer from intermittent claudication (IC) [<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="cit2">2</xref>]. In Russia, from 15 to 30% of the population older than 65 years have signs of obliterating diseases of lower limb arteries [3,  4].
