<trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>Menopausal hormone therapy (MHT) is recognized as the most effective treatment of vaso-motor symptoms in women during menopausal transition and in postmenopause [1, 2]. Although various alternative therapies are widely used for this purpose, there is little sufficient evidence to support them. The market of the so-called natural plant preparations has been on the rise recently, although the effects of most of such preparations are not better than those of the placebo [<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="cit3">3</xref>]. Many physicians and women mistakenly believe that absence of data on any adverse effects of alternative MHT medicines evidences their safety.
