Abstract

The problem of infectious endocarditis (IE) continues to be relevant because of the high mortality rates and the development of severe complications. The modern IE is a polyetiologic disease, the emergence and development of which can be attributed to an extremely extensive list enlarged almost every year. At the same time, the growing resistance of IE to antibiotics, as well as the increasing etiologic role of infectious agents that recently were very rare become serious barriers to effective antimicrobial therapy. The timely information of doctors about modern methods of IE treatment is of great practical importance. This article introduces the basic principles of treatment and prevention of from, taking into account the latest recommendations of European Cardiac Society experts in 2015.
