Alpha-lipoic acid drugs in the treatment of diabetic neuropathy

Abstract
Diabetic neuropathy is the most common complication of diabetes mellitus. Among the large number of drugs used as symptomatic therapy to reduce its manifestations, alpha-lipoic acid medications are specific for providing pathogenic effect on many mechanisms of diabetic neuropathy. The article provides an overview of studies on the use of alpha-lipoic acid in the treatment of diabetic neuropathy.
