Abstract
Community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) is a pressing issue of practical healthcare. The reasons are high morbidity and mortality, difficulties in the diagnostics and assessment of disease severity, frequent cases of inadequate antibiotic therapy. Quality medical care to CAP patients is currently one of the priority issues: a number of Russian pharmaco-epidemiological surveillance studies showed that management of patients with CAP both in outpatient and inpatient settings often do not meet the requirements of the current clinical management guidelines [1-3].

Abstract
The article considers current issues of the pathogenesis of acute respiratory viral infections (ARVI); there is current data on the advantages and disadvantages of the main groups of drugs used in the pharmacotherapy of ARVI. The composition and principles of choice of combination drugs, their pharmacological effects are demonstrated. The role of combination drugs with antiviral, angioprotective and antioxidant action is highlighted.

Abstract
It often happens in clinical practice that patient with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is diagnosed both with arterial hypertension (AH) and chronic heart failure (CHF). The effect of antioxidant drug Mexidol on the quality of life and the degree of bronchial obstruction syndrome (BOS) in these patients was evaluated.

Abstract
Pancreatic steatosis was described 80 years ago. Ultrasound, computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging found that pancreatic steatosis (non-alcoholic fatty liver disease) usually occurs in obesity and metabolic syndrome. There is a relationship between pancreatic steatosis and type 2 diabetes which exacerbates acute pancreatitis. Weight loss results in a reduction of fat in the pancreas.

CARDIOLOGY

Abstract
Arterial hypertension (AH) and its complications are very common today and associated with a high risk of disability and death, especially among the working age population (cerebral stroke, myocardial infarction, chronic heart failure, end-stage kidney failure, cardiac arrhythmias, etc.). At the same time, the effectiveness of blood pressure control in hypertensive patients remains unacceptably low for various reasons. The article attempts to streamline administration of antihypertensive drugs on the basis of an algorithm, including adequate monitoring of the current antihypertensive therapy. The article draws on recent 2013 ESC/ESH guidelines, as well as the American JNC-8 guidelines of December 2013, for the treatment of hypertension (JAMA-2014, December, published online). The paper presents an original algorithm for the selection of antihypertensive therapy, including methods and timing for assessing both the effectiveness and safety of antihypertensive therapy.

Abstract
Clinical manifestations of the atherosclerotic process are leading causes of mortality, morbidity and disability in the adult population of the developed countries all over the world. Many years of research have established a clear relationship between the risk of cardiovascular disease and high cholesterol level. Numerous global epidemiological studies, such as, for example, the Framingham Heart Study [1] and INTERHEART [2], provided solid evidence confirming that statement. Moreover, randomized clinical trials of lipid-lowering interventions over the past 10-15 years demonstrate that greater cholesterol reduction is associated with a significant decrease in the risk of complications.

Abstract
The article is devoted to the relationship between depressive disorders and cardiovascular diseases. According to epidemiological studies, roughly one in five patients with coronary artery disease suffers from depression. The combination of anxiety-depressive disorder and CHD complicates diagnosis and treatment of both diseases and worsens the prognosis. The authors emphasize the need for a differentiated approach to the management of such patients; special attention is given to the treatment of insomnia in patients with CAD.

Abstract
The article discusses the causes and mechanisms of musculoskeletal pain syndromes and different methods of treatment of low back pain. Particular attention is paid to the use of chondroprotectors.

Abstract
Acromegaly is a severe multiple organ dysfunction which has an adverse impact on the quality and duration of life of patients. This is conditioned by the formation of a variety of pathological progressive hormonal, metabolic and systemic disorders, each of which is an independent risk factor for early disability and premature death.

Abstract
Self-monitoring of blood glucose remains the cornerstone in the treatment of diabetes. The primary aim of diabetes treatment is target level of glycemia, which can not be achieved without effective self-moniroting with a glucose meter. The state-of-the art device CONTOUR TS meets all modern requirements for blood glucose meters, is simple and easy to use and can be manipulated in regular self-monitoring and in urgent situations.

Abstract
Currently, there are a number of effective drugs for the treatment of osteoporosis that increase bone mineral density and reduce the risk of fractures. However, till now there is no consensus of scientists on the optimal method of assessing response to treatment with osteoporosis medications. It is known that the main objective of osteoporosis treatment is prevention of bone fractures. However, in reality, for some patients it is not always possible to prevent fracture even with the help of novel drugs.

Abstract
One of the most important strategic objectives of the government is to preserve and promote the health of citizens. However, the past decades have seen a deterioration of health of the Russian population, in particular children and adolescents [1]; students of higher and secondary educational institutions are no exception. Whereas much attention is paid to the evaluation of health of high school students, students of secondary vocational schools receive much less attention, and this is absolutely true for students of teacher training colleges.
